From 2010 – 2020, The Side Dish played a blend of classic, southern, americana, and alternative rock at venues around the Washington DC Metro area.

The band was anchored by David Johnson on vocals and guitar, Alex Cristofaro on lead guitar, and Chris Boesen on bass. Johnny Drummer replaced Manny Arciniega on the drums midway through the band’s run.  

In 2017, The Side Dish travelled to Memphis, Tennessee to record at legendary Sun Studio, where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and other stars on Sam Phillips’ label created Rock and Roll. The album was recorded in live takes over two nights and rough mixed to capture the sound of the legendary room. One reviewer said the original songs sound like “REM crashed into the Allman Brothers’ tour bus.”
